Description kranthi 2011-10-10 06:46:42 UTC
Version: 2.4.11 (using KDE 4.6.5)
OS: Linux

When i try the new audio alarm, the sound is too low.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open the new audio alarm dialog box
2. put mp3 audio as sound
3. check Repeat
4. Set volume to high
5. check fade and put initial volume 1 point
6. click try

Actual Results:
Sound is too low.
even if i put volume to high and disable "set volume"

Expected Results:
should be fading into full sound.

OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.37.6
Compiler: i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc

An error would be that the sound volume in that dialog does not match the actual sound when the alarm is triggered.

If the problem is that the highest value in the settings is 100%, and you cannot select a volume higher than what you would say is the “normal” — as opposed to “high” — volume of the sound file, then the priority of this issue should probably be changed to “wish”, since you would be requesting a new feature, or an improvement, not an error per se.

Can you try selecting the same file in Dolphin, and playing it there using the play button in the right-hand panel. Then disable "set volume" in KAlarm, and compare the volume when you click Try. Is the volume the same as when you play it in Dolphin? If so, KAlarm is playing it as it is designed to, i.e. using the currently set system volume level.

I did try that, and dolphin also renders it at the system volume in the system tray.

Just to be sure, can you confirm that dolphin plays it at the same sound level as KAlarm? (I think that is what you meant in your last comment, but I'm not totally sure.)
Comment 5 kranthi 2012-09-25 08:08:40 UTC
What i meant was that dolphin plays in the normal level of sound which is louder than the sound level of KAlarm.
KAlarm plays at a very low level of sound.

I cannot reproduce the error. KAlarm reaches either the same or a higher level than Dolphin’s preview, both with MP3 and OGG.

BTW, I’m using Kalarm 2.9.2-ak, and Phonon-GStreamer.

KAlarm for KDE 4 is no longer maintained, so closing this bug. If you see the bug using KDE Frameworks ("KDE 5"), please reopen the bug report.
