Description David Houlden 2011-10-09 10:02:45 UTC
Version: SVN trunk (using KDE 4.5.5)
OS: Linux

When setting up a new account in the wizard, the account opening date defaults to the date of the start of fiscal year. While I appreciate that kmymoney cannot predict what the date should be, maybe setting it to today is a better option. Currently, when I click on the calendar icon to select the correct date I may have to go forward several months to get the correct opening date.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
As described above.

Actual Results:
Account opening date defaults to start of fiscal year.

Expected Results:
Date to default to today's date.

This used to be the default behavior and caused a lot of problems, as people wanted to add transactions prior to that date and could not enter them. From the log message of rev 1153976 on 2010-07-24: "Default the opening date for new accounts to be the first day of the fiscal year."

BTW: did you know, that pressing the little icon in the lower left corner of the calendar widget left of the printed date selects the current date?

No, I didn't know about that facility in the calendar widget, thanks.

Now you have explained why this was done I am happy to close this. I remember the problem now.
