I left the Wetab running for several hours (charging), then used it and saw that all activity titles in the activity switcher were gone except for a user-created activity. I also had crash dialog from kactivitymanagerd (segfault). Unfortunately I couldn't get any traceback.

Note: if you rename activities, you'll get the title for that activity back in the activity switcher.

this would be the causal factor.

so .. things that need improving here:

* kactivitymanagerd should not crash (do you have a backtrace?)
* when kactivitymanagerd re-appears, the DataEngine should re-populate itself (a DBus service watcher should be enough)

I haven't been able to reproduce this bug in some time.
Verified on 2011-12-06-18-24-basyskom-plasma-active-devel-meego-usb-live.iso
