Summary: Invisible drkonqi blocks logout
Product: [Applications] drkonqi Reporter: Todd <toddrme2178>

Description Todd 2011-09-20 09:20:08 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.1)
OS: Linux

I routinely have a problem where my on logout my system hangs indefinitely with a black screen. If I open another console (alt+shift+f1), login, and check the running processes, I see drkonqi is running. However, there is no drkonqi window (or any other window) visible on my KDE console (alt+shift+f7). Killing drkonqi from the f1 console allows the logout to finish, but otherwise it will hang forever (I have left it overnight).

This is happening on two different computers.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
Apparently happens randomly

Actual Results:
drkonqi appears but never becomes visible

Expected Results:
drkonqi is visible so I can close it

See https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/107657/ for why the logout procedure hangs and the proposed fix/workaround.

Another problem in this report is which application is drkonqi started for ? You can use ps or htop to see the full command line of that drkonqi process and check the "--programname xxxx" part.
