Description Adrián Chaves (Gallaecio) 2011-09-14 16:52:06 UTC
Version: 4.0 (using KDE 4.7.1)
OS: Linux

I was using this icon (that is the path where it was installed) for a derivated work for The Chakra Project, and when including it inside another SVG file, I noticed it was not resizing properly.

I started with SVG just a couple of days ago, so it took me a while to find out the reason, but I finally found it[1]. viewBox property was missing.

So, after width and height definition in the initial “svg” tag, this definition should be included: viewBox="0 0 128 128".

----
[1] http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3995228/resizing-svg-image-in-mediawiki

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Open the icon in a plain text editor and search for viewBox.

Actual Results:
You won’t find the property.

Expected Results:
It should probably be there.

I must say finding a 128px icon in a folder called “small” also felt a bit weird, but I’m not sure if that is on purpose or not.

Dont know excatly what you are talking about, but .... the oxygen icon sources tend to be all in the same size and are scaled via the folowing methot---
explort 4 times bigher than final size (avoiding/minimising inkscape pixel errors)
scale in gimp using the a finting scale agorithmmmm (depends on the type and shape of the icon)
fix some final details i gimp if needed...

the reason i make them all in 128x128 is because in inkscape if you tray to draw in s a very small canvas wen ever you do intersections, joins, diferences, it leadas to many numercal errors, so its more convinient to use a larger canvas, plus its more convinient wen doing all of the icon versions all you need to alter is the rendering grid and adjust the icon.

When including this SVG in another SVG (“including” from code as an external file, not “pasting” this SVG in the other), its size is not 128×128, IIRC it was way bigger.

It was solved by adding this to the svg tag properties (as described in the correct answer for the StackOverflow question, which is the key of this matter): viewBox="0 0 128 128".

It was long ago, so I do not remember exactly how I included this SVG as an external file into another SVG, but I can look for it again and try to reproduce the bug so I can provide additional information.

Anyway, I am only asking for the size of the icon (as you said, 128×128) to be specified this way in the SVG file:

<svg […] viewBox="0 0 128 128" >
