The laptop I used is thinkpad X201 with a 15 step brightness LCD screen. When pressed Fn+Home(XF86MonBrightnessUp) or Fn+End(XF86MonBrightnessDown), the brightness of LCD screen changed with a nice OSD.

But I found the adjustment step quite differs with minimal valve acpi reports. From 0 to 100, use xbacklight can step in 15 states while powerdevil in 7 states.

I think powerdevil use its algorithm to perform adjustment. Sometimes I have to manually adjust screen brightness using xbacklight because powerdevil fail to get into satisfying state. IMHO, a fine tuning will be very welcome.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
A LCD screen within 15 brighness step.
KDE 4.7.0
Press XF86MonBrightnessUp and XF86MonBrightnessDown.

Actual Results:  
Powerdevil will work but not in the minimal valve.

Expected Results:  
Minimal valve as hardware supported.
