It would be very useful to have a search widget show up for adding attachments while you are composing a new message.

If Nepomuk is enabled then it should be easy to perform that search.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Expected Results:
Some UI options in order of preference
1) text input widget always at the bottom of the compose window where I can type the filename or directory and a list of matching paths dynamically pops up above
2) Pressing "ctrl-a" would pop up a search dialogue at the bottom of the compose window
3) A "search" button in the file selection dialogue when I click the "Attach" button
4) Put the compose text box and an "attachment manager" section in tabs. I would bring up the compose window and be able to type as I have in the past, but if I wanted to add an attachment I'd click the "attachments" tab and be able to browse the filesystem dolphin-style (which would include searching options). Any file I wanted to attach I would drag over to a list widget on the left-hand side. To continue writing the email I would switch back to the "message" tab

Hello David. Thank you for your report. And sorry for taking long time to answer. It is about a version of KMail which uses Nepomuk and is currently unmaintained. But as the wish you have is not implemented in Baloo / Akonadi Search based KMail I will keep this bug open. I set it to confirmed as that feature is not yet available. No promises tough. :) Thank you, Martin

Hi there, this bug has been identified to be related to nepomuk, the semantic searching system in prior versions of KDE. Please note that nepomuk has been replaced by Baloo. I'm going to close this bug due to the use of the new Baloo system. Please do file a new bug for frameworks-baloo if you happen to continue having issues with search.
