although I can never win as it is, now I get an impossible check.

That's interesting, thanks for reporting. I haven't seen something like that, Knight's attack is the easiest to determine because it's never blocked. 

I tried to reproduce such behavior playing both colors as human, but I couldn't. It might be good if you happened to have a console log of the situation (output of the Console window, opnened from the toolbar).
