Description bkorb 2011-08-18 02:39:43 UTC
Version: 4.6 (using KDE 4.6.0)
OS: Linux

If you read that and think think that only the window content ceases to be
displayed, you would be wrong. Nothing at all is displayed. So, unclicking
it means "move window blindly with only a fuzzy guess about where you might
happen to put it". Not very useful.

I was having problems with random kde processes soaking up CPU cycles so
my window moves became so jerky that I could not place them within snap zones
of the screen edge. So I thought I'd save some cycles by avoiding displaying
the content of the windows while being moved. Imagine my surprise when
there was no moving outline or any other hint about where I was moving the
window. Placing it where I wanted was somewhat difficult.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
* Turn off "display content in moving window"
* try to move a window within the snap zone of the screen edge.

Actual Results:
The moving hand moves the window, but I cannot tell until I release. Then I have to keep adjusting it over and over until it is placed properly.

Expected Results:
I'd see a window outline move around

When is somebody going to release a fix for the task bar that pops
up and will never go down again until I restart the desk top?
It is pretty old now and getting to me much more insistent about
staying up. There's supposedly already a bug, so I didn't file
one, but I'd sure be glad when it gets fixed!!!

When are you updating your KDE version? (since that bug has long been fixed)

Not sure about the KWin bug, it might be fixed, too.

"long been fixed" Dang. I thought with all this auto-update stuff I'd be kept
reasonably current. My distro provider is OpenSuSE. I get an update whenever
someone there says, "time for you to get a new one". That only happened a
very few number of months ago. But that isn't your problem. It would be
only when you have crucial updates and you don't prod them with a "you need
to get this out". This isn't crucial, ergo I wait until they get a round tuit.
Thank you.
