Description xejakig884 2011-08-09 22:30:23 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.0)
OS: Linux

If I close an application using the "x" button then the taskbar icon is not removed. If I close the application using a keyboard shorcut (e.g. Alt-F4) or the application's file menu then the icon is removed correctly

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Open an application
Close the application using the 'x' button

Actual Results:
Icon remains in the taskbar

Expected Results:
The icon should have been removed

This bug has been noted on Kubuntu 11.04 and 11.10.
See this thread - http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1818350

I am using a PC with 4GB RAM so memory is not a problem.

Two users have reported that they can reproduce bug by closing with 'x' button and to a lesser extent with Alt-F4. That is good enough for me to close my own bug report so that bug report #275469 can be used solely to track this bug.

Same problem wth Kubuntu 11.10. My solution: I click on the Kickoff Program Launcher and after close it. By closing it, the icon of the formerly closed proram or applicatin disappears.
