the channel list tab is very time consuming and obnoxious.
Older versions of konversation simply put a text-based list in the chat window of whatever channel you were in when making the request. I love this! It is so easy. Please bring it back -- make it an option -- whatever. I use this all the time (still on debian oldstable with a couple computers...)

I'm very sorry to have to shut you down here, but we think the GUI version works better for most of our users because of the realtime filtering it is capable of, because it doesn't sully a channel tab with unrelated data, and so on. So I'm afraid implementing your request is a WONTFIX as-is.

However, we would really like to hear more about why the GUI version doesn't work well for you, in the hopes that we might be able to improve it for your needs. Please add additional info here.

the main difficulty is that is takes a very long time to load the list. I often have connection trouble, or only use konvi for a short period of time, so this is frequently an issue.

My primary use for the channel list is to find a channel whose name I know but need to verify because I can't remember some detail, e.g. ##php vs. #php -- to check and see if a named channel exists. It is really a drag to have to open a new tab for that, and wait for the entire list to load, in order to make a query about one channel.

certainly the tab is superior for the output of a simple command of /list

sorry for taking so long to reply-- notification got lost in my spam folder.

anyway, thanks for all your good work
