You also get an announcement about 800 meters in front of a turn. I had distance announcements implemented, but disabled them for the releases since phonon on Maemo is not able to do gapless playback, resulting in output like "Turn right" ... "after" ... "100" ... "meters" (each ... a silence of about a second). outch, that's bad news. i know that having custom recorded voices is a cool feature, but would it be possible to have a user option to fall back on espeak? as voice turn by turn instructions are more important than cool voices. I have the mbrola espeak voices installed and they're quite good. 'modrana' on the n900 allows users to edit the espeak command for voice navigation. my espeak command on modrana is set to espeak -v mb-en1 -s 120 -m %qmessage% and it works very well. |
