Description aditsu 2011-07-28 01:07:14 UTC
Version: unspecified (using Devel)
OS: Linux

I write something in kwrite, select a part, and press Ctrl+C. Then I can paste (Ctrl+V) the copied text correctly in the same kwrite window, but not in any other window (such as another instance of kwrite). The selected text doesn't appear in klipper.
If I use the mouse instead (right-click and select "Copy"), then I can successfully paste in other windows. The menu (Edit -> Copy) also works.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
See description

Expected Results:
Consistent behavior

I'm using kde 4.7 RC2 (4.6.95)
Comment 1 Marc Payne 2011-07-29 17:17:36 UTC
I can't reproduce this in KDE 4.7.0.
Comment 2 aditsu 2011-07-29 22:33:16 UTC
I've just upgraded to 4.7.0 and I reproduced it immediately.
Comment 3 Dominik Haumann 2011-07-30 08:04:20 UTC
Cannot reproduce either. Do you use klipper? Can you reproduce also when running kwrite in e.g. Gnome or so? What keyboard layout do you use?
Comment 4 aditsu 2011-07-30 18:48:25 UTC
Klipper is running but I don't actively use it. I don't have gnome or other DE's. The keyboard layout is "English (US)". I also have IBus running but, again, I don't actively use it.
Copying and pasting from other programs into kwrite or from kwrite into the same kwrite window works correctly, but not from kwrite to other programs/kwrite instances.
However, I noticed now that I also can't copy from the dolphin address bar into kwrite or other programs, so maybe this problem is not specific to kwrite.

So.. any ideas? Does the bug need to be reassigned?
Comment 6 Dominik Haumann 2011-08-03 16:09:03 UTC
Then one obvious question is: Does it work, if you disable ibus?
Comment 7 aditsu 2011-08-05 15:53:56 UTC
Hmm.. actually, it does, thanks for the suggestion.
I guess it's a problem with IBus then.
Comment 8 Jekyll Wu 2011-11-22 11:06:24 UTC
I can't reproduce the reported problem using ibus-1.4.0 and kate-3.7.3 .
Comment 9 aditsu 2011-11-25 08:28:00 UTC
Hmm, I had ibus 1.3.9. After upgrading, it doesn't seem to happen anymore.
Comment 10 Sergey 2014-04-23 13:11:00 UTC
reproduced on ubuntu 14.04 + kde.
removing ibus related packages makes shortcuts working again. (not only ctrl+c is broken)

btw when I start from kde non-kde (gtk, qt) applications shortcuts work fine in them.

ibus-1.5.5
