Description Fest 2011-07-10 23:25:16 UTC
Version: 2.0.0 (using Devel)
OS: Linux

There are a lot of options how to save metadata in Digikam.

Problem that there is no way to forbid Digikam write to exif and iptc. And for users adding tags and captions in non-english language it's killing blow, rendering metadata useless - cause Digikam trying to save that in exif and iptc, and result is something like that &D*^#( instead of unicode.

So, i'm asking about option to write metadata only in xmp.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1) Open image in Digikam.
2) Open caption sidebar.
3) Write caption in non-english language - for example in russian/hebrew/etc.
4) Open metadata sidebar - iptc tab

Actual Results:
Caption is non readable. Something like *&$Y(#(

Expected Results:
Caption is written only in xmp and readable.
