Bad layout of KMail windows which wastes space on screen.

Version: 2.1.1 (using KDE 4.6.4)
OS: Linux

Kmail's tall folder list wastes space on screen. When you have small list of folders the rest of this window is empty and wasted. Message view window should be wider to make use of this unused space. See screen snapshots in attachments: bad design in Kmail and good design of Mozilla Thunderbird.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Open KMail and Thunderbird to compare how they differs in main window view.
(Thunderbird may require some layout configuration first to get layout like in attachment).

Actual Results:
Message View pane width is limited by Message List pane width.

Expected Results:
Message View pane width should be KMail window wide and lay below both: Folder Tree and Message List.

OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.39.2
Compiler: gcc

afair, this is also not the default view for thunderbird.

Anyway, this is not a bug, the layout can be configured in KMail too: settings/Configure KMail/Appearance/Layout/'Short folder list' is what you're looking for.
