Description Jonathan M Davis 2011-07-10 02:20:41 UTC
Version: 2.1.1 (using KDE 4.6.4)
OS: Linux

I have an e-mail account which is set up for disconnected IMAP. In the configuration for that e-mail account, I have the checkbox for "Enable interval mail checking" disabled. So, kmail should _never_ try and fetch new messages unless I manually tell it to check the mail for that account.

However, kmail _still_ periodically syncs the account. I do _not_ want it to _ever_ sync without my telling it to do so manually. And since I have set up the account for disconnected IMAP, and I disabled interval mail checking, it should never sync without my manually telling to do so. But it is. This needs to be fixed. It is a _major_ downgrade from kmail 1 to have kmail 2 syncing my e-mail when I didn't manually tell it to do so.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
Have an IMAP account in kmail. In its settings, select "Enable disconnected mode" and unselect "Enable interval mail checking."

Actual Results:
Periodically, kmail syncs the e-mail account with the server and new e-mails appear in kmail.

Expected Results:
Kmail _never_ syncs the e-mail account with the server unless you manually tell it to by using the "Check Mail" button or menu uption for that account.

I confirm this. I have disconnected IMAP and have unchecked periodic syncing and unchecked syncing upon startup, but KMail still downloads new messages in background.

This is a regression from KMail 1.

Confirmed on my system too. This slows kmail down significantly

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kmail2 (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.12 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
