When moving a selection, it is deleted completely (not a display glitch, if you save the file it is deleted in the file too)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Draw something. Select part of it with the selection tool. Drag the selected part

Actual Results:  
Selected part is deleted

Expected Results:  
Selected part is moved to new location

This is the intended behavior. A move of a region of pixels leaves a "hole" which is filled with the background color.
If you want to copy a selection, do it via copy/paste
