It sound like a crash in versioning management code. Your images are versionned ? Gilles Caulier yes I did versioned them, but the renamed files were other copies
dir with original files and versioned once

|_ dir with the copies of the versioned file which I renamed

Yes, there is a crash in the versioned files scan. I think I have seen such a problem before, strangely it is not suggested as possible duplicate.
