I think this is a duplicate of the bug 161324 Yes, it's a duplicate. The other bug didn't come up in a search for "annotation" or "highlighter", so, I submitted it. I see okular is listed as using poppler on the poppler site. Any word on if multi-column format will be supported? Currently a GSOC project is going on for supporting multi-column in both selection and highlighting.
