Description Jim 2011-06-27 01:25:05 UTC
Version: 0.12.2 (using KDE 4.6.2)
OS: Linux

Most journal PDf files have 2-3 columns of text. The text selection tool ignores those columns and so does the yellow highlighter tool (probably for the same reason). Multi-column text selection works fine in Gnome Document Viewer 2.32.0 (of course, there is no editing feature). This bug also has a huge impact on ability to cut text from a PDF.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Open multi-column PDF file
Select text from the right hand column
Notice that it selects text across the whole width of the page.

Expected Results:
Should only select from the column in use.

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.38-8-generic
Compiler: cc

I think this is a duplicate of the bug 161324

Yes, it's a duplicate. The other bug didn't come up in a search for "annotation" or "highlighter", so, I submitted it. I see okular is listed as using poppler on the poppler site. Any word on if multi-column format will be supported?

Currently a GSOC project is going on for supporting multi-column in both selection and highlighting. I hope, this support can be added soon after the completion of the project.
