Version:           4.5.3 (using KDE 4.6.3)

When configuring a budget vs reality report, there's a tab "row/columns" with a detail widget. 4 options are listed : All, top-levels, group, total.

I use the "All" because the other ones hide what I want to see, but I've so many nested categories that it takes a lot of space. A simple numérical field where one could enter the desired depth would be fine (imho).
