It would be perfect if you could provide a sample file and some comments on how to see the problem with actual accounts/institutions/investments. That would reduce bug fix time tremendously. TIA. Created attachment 60206 [details]

Here's a small file containing an institution called 'Institution', with two investment accounts, 'stock' and 'stock2'.
In Institution view, 'stock' shows no value, whereas 'stock2' does show a value.
I don't know why that should be. Report Account Balances by Institution shows both correctly.
Allan, just out of interest I tried your test file and I see a value against both in Institution view. stock 6214.94 stock2 1214.04 SVN 1232944 on KDE 4.5.5 I see values for both institutions also. Er, thank you both. My first thought was, 'Oh, I'm behind with my updates. I'm on Version 4.5.90-svn1232619', but then I saw Brandan's was older than mine. Closed KMM, and reopened, and voila! my Institutions view is now OK. That is, so far as the test file is concerned. Sadly though, my production file, is still wrong in the same way, and is more complicated, of course. So, please ignore the test file I sent. Except, why did it take a reload to update the Institutions view. Have I heard of something like that before? You don't actually have to provide a file that shows the bug as you just open it. You could provide the file + some clear instructions (like entering and investment transaction) on how to obtain the inconsistency so we can fix it from there. Looking again at this, I do find it a bit puzzling, but I think I can see why there may be differences between the way two of the institutions appear, although I don't know why it should be so. I have two institutions which contain several investment accounts. Looking at them in Institutions view, one has values against all accounts except one. The other institution shows no values against any account. What I've realised is that, in the first one, three accounts share the same security, three share a different one, and the third, the one that shows no value, does not share its security. In the second institution, none of the accounts share their securities. Why that should be so, I don't know, but in the scheme of things, there are more important matters needing attention. I'm happy for this bug to be closed. Allan |
