The power manager does not recognise when AC Adaptor is unplugged. So it does not change the profle when power goes off.
It used to suspend desktop effects previously when power goes off, but when power comes back, it does not activate desktop effects again. 
Now, it does not even suspend desktop effects.

This bug is an upstream bug in UPower, which should have been fixed by now anyway.
