- What I was doing when the application crashed:

I was changing backend from gstreamer to xine through the amarok configuration, because I have difficulty playing mp3 streams since ubuntu 11.04.
After the change was done, knotify crashed, then amarok crashed.

There are similar bugs reported, but they are marked as fixed, which is obviously not the case :) 
So opening a new one.

First of all, to play mp3 files you need to install the appropriate codecs. Since Kubuntu 11.04 switched to gstreamer you should install the ubuntu-restricted-extras package.

We do not recommend to use the xine backend anymore, since there has been a big improvement on the other two backends that are gstreamer and vlc. Please use one of these.

This is really fixed, but the version this is fixed in is not released yet.
