This is a non sence for me to make a new database dedicated to store XMP sidecar. The goal of sidecar is interroperability with other softwares. If you don't care about it, don't create sidecar with right config... Gilles Caulier How about a way to configure where the files are stored and perhaps how they are named? One pet peeve about picasa is that it stores that .ini file in each folder. I would want it to look at the files there but store its data about them elsewhere. This goes for MS Windows - using thumbs.db is fine but again I do not want it to appear there in the directory with my pictures. And now the same with digikam. Thanks for the good work and I look forward to your suggestions and further improvements. If you want no extra files, do not use sidecars. If you do not want to touch your files, store metadata only in your database, the place of which you can configure btw. XMP sidecars are a standard format. As the name suggest, a sidecar needs to be beside the main image. http://www.cartoonstock.com/newscartoons/cartoonists/jkn/lowres/jknn486l.jpg |
