Version:           4.6 (using KDE 4.6.2) 
OS:                Linux

When attempting to configure a custom shortcut (ie dolphin>settings>configure shortcuts), that is waiting for input, mouse clicks and button presses do not register, it only seems to accept keyboard inputs. So in this case, there is no way to assign mouse back and forward to make dolphin go back and forward.

Well, they are called keyboard shortcuts, so they were never intended to work with mouse buttons. But those extended mouse buttons should still be supported, at least for the use case you mentioned.

Is this really a duplicate of that bug? That bug wants support for additional mouse keys and does not concern the system shortcuts, while this one wants any mouse keys, not just additional ones to work with the system shortcuts.
