Description Jeffrey 2011-05-06 16:51:57 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.1)
OS: Linux

Its confusing to work on the "Look for Possible Duplicate Reports" page. I never know what I am supposed to do. I click a report and select [Next] and that doesn't work.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
pick a possible dup and [Next] fails to mark as a dup.

Actual Results:
[Next] fails to mark as a dup.

Expected Results:
If i am picking a possible dup, [Next] should pick that as a dup. I understand that [Open] and then [Mark as possible dup] is what I should to be doing, but [Next] seems to be more logical here.

I think, partly, people don't know to open the dup and then compare the results, which is what the wizard wants us to do. [Open Selected] should be renamed to [Compare as possible duplicate], which is what we're actually trying to do?

Thanks for KDE and the integrated bug reporting wizard which i think has made everyone's KDE so much the better!

Yes, I agree the current UI is not very intuitive

I also have a request:
When dups are found, DrKonqi should also automatically seach for the "master" report and display them in tree view:
"Master Report"
|- [Duplicate Report] dup1
|- [Duplicate Report] dup2
'- [Duplicate Report] ...

After some consideration we do not think that there is all that much to do here. The description at the top of the wizard page should give sufficient indication as to what to do and when in doubt reporting a new report would likely be the correct action (i.e. hitting next) so we can triage the report manually as either a dupe or not.
With all that in mind spending time on this doesn't seem all that valuable, even when the page isn't exactly the hottest in UI design, but then its subject matter is fairly technical to begin with.
