Description Peter Roots 2011-04-16 19:40:47 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.1)
OS: Linux

If I add a comment to a jpg image, in Dolphin it is not displayed in Gwenview or Digikam and does not show up anywhere with 'exiftool file.jpg'

A description entered in Gwenview does not usually show up in Dolphin (but I did get it to do so once) and also does not show up using exiftool.

A comment entered in Digikam is copied to many metadata tags (comment, description, caption-abstract, ImageDescription, UserComment) but none of these are used by read by Dolphin or Gwenview.

Could not Dolphin or Gwenview make use of at least one standard metadata tag for storing a description or comment?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
type a comment in dolphin while a jpg is highlighted by clicking the add comment link on the information pane

Actual Results:
a comment is displayed in the information pane for that file but does not show up in gwenview, digikam or exiftool

Expected Results:
to be able to see a comment in more than just the file browser

Has most likely been addressed in Bug 433653.

There have been other recent fixes dealing with the import/export of extended attributes that may be of interest (Bug 433822, Bug 433984 and Bug 434060)
