Description kde 2011-04-14 15:39:15 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.1)
OS: Linux

I have installed TeXLive for F14 x86_64 from this repository:

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/TeXLive

With it, comes a horde of different fonts which are browsable in the Font Installer. Whenever I try to view a TeX font called TeXXTIE20 (Regular), it crashes the whole desktop. This happens consistently every time. I haven't yet checked the hundreds of other TeX fonts to see if some others cause this behaviour as well.

Here is /var/log/messages output of the crash:

Apr 14 16:31:52 localhost abrt[5496]: saved core dump of pid 4830 (/usr/bin/Xorg) to /var/spool/abrt/ccpp-1302787911-4830.new/coredump (65785856 bytes)
Apr 14 16:31:52 localhost abrtd: Directory 'ccpp-1302787911-4830' creation detected

Reproducible: Always

Could you attach the font that causes the crash?

Created attachment 59160 [details]
TeXXTie20-Regular

This should be the offending font file causing the crash.

Just tried with font installer from 4.6.2 - and a preview appeared. Font looks very odd, but no crash occured. Perhaps its a 64bit issue? Or Graphics driver issue? I'm using NVidia at home, and intel at work - but both 32-bit. Which driver are you using?
Comment 4 kde 2011-05-21 13:21:15 UTC
I just updated to Fedora 15 x86_64 with KDE 4.6.3, crash is happening here as well. My graphics driver in F14 was 2.12.0 and the current one is xorg-x11-drv-intel-2.15.0-3.fc15.x86_64.

I'll file a bug with Fedora as well, in case this isn't a KDE bug.
Comment 5 Christoph Feck 2011-05-21 17:12:54 UTC
I cannot reproduce this bug either. The font certainly looks "non conforming", so it might be a freetype or a Qt issue.

To investigate the problem further, please add the backtrace for the crash. For more information, see http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
