Description Mircea Trandafir 2011-04-01 20:11:51 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.1)
OS: Linux

I'm trying to use the option to place temporary files created during the compilation in a different location. If I use the "--output-directory" option of pdflatex, kile can't find the log file so it doesn't provide any information on the compilation process. The "relative dir" option in Settings - Configure Kile - Tools - Build - Advanced seems to work only if the path provided is _inside_ the working dir. Any attempt to provide an absolute path (such as "/tmp") or a relative path that would go outside of the working dir (such as "../../tmp") fails, even though I have write permissions for those dirs (in the first example, the temporary files are created in the "tmp" subdir of the working dir, in the second they are created in the working dir). It would be very useful if Kile accepted absolute paths and/or relative paths outside of the working dir.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a latex file.
2. Go to Settings - Configure Kile - Tools - Build - Pdflatex - Advanced
3. Change "Relative dir" to "../"

Actual Results:
Temporary files (.aux, .log) are created in the working dir

Expected Results:
Temporary files (.aux, .log) are created in the parent dir
