kmail downloads all the email, then deletes them and then dowloads them again when i want to read them.
How does it make any sense?

Cannot reproduce with kmail2 with both online imap and dimap. 

Open a new report against akonadi/imap if you're able to reproduce this issue with kdepim >= 4.6b5
