Version:           0.6.2 (using KDE 4.6.1)

Images appear to be accepted  correctly into the system, I can watch individual image thumbnails being updated, I can use the file manager to check on images in each folder .... but the file count for the folder remains at zero and no images are displayed.
I have rolled back to prior versions and the problem persists.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Simple restart including full reboot.

Actual Results:  
No images are seen in any folder even if other folders are added into the collection or new collections are added.

Expected Results:  
Full collection should be seen

OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.35-27-generic

Which digikam version?
I'm not sure from your description if you can see images - you mention to see thumbnails, but then you say there are no images. In the latter case, it's usually an installation/distribution problem to have the kioslaves correctly installed.

Thumbnails: When I do an "Update Thumbnails" I can watch the system processing the individual thumbnail files but at the end of the update nothing appears and the file/folder count is still set at zero. Opening the file manager from within DK works correctly and shows that all files are correctly in place.

From the information shown in the bug report is it possible to determine what I may have to reinstall or adjust to try and fix this problem? Can it be a permissions problem in the data-base?

I am not sure what you are reading!

I have a fresh install (after doing a full DK delete) and am using
latest Philip5 ppa. My system shows DK ver 2.0.0 with KDE 4.6.1.

Is it possible that I could be carrying over something from a prior
install that is causing the problem? Any idea where I should start to
look?

Problem has been solved by doing a full system re-install.

I have to assume there was a conflict lurking within ...

Gilles, the 0.6.2 version probably comes from KPackageKit, where the bug was reported from.
