Sentry Crash Report:

Description whatmeurgent 2011-03-10 21:32:05 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.1)
OS: Linux

SCENARIO: I had copied the 8 debian-6 DVD iso images to an archival external usb hard drive, and now wanted to delete the images from a local drive.

When I try to delete any of the first seven DVD iso images (each over 4GB is size), dolphin refuses, claiming the trash is full, and that I should empty it manually.

The first time this happened, there were indeed a few items in trash. Nothing large enough to fill it, but still, there was something there, so I used dolphin to empty it.

Still, dolphin would continue to refuse to delete any of the full-size DVD iso images, with the same message.

The eighth DVD iso image, with a size less than 1GB was deletable within dolphin.

I opened a terminal, and deleted them in one fell swoop ( rm deb*.iso ) without a hitch.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
What I mean by "it happens every time" above, is that I had seven separate DVD iso's greater than 4GB and went through this process manually for the first five. I used the just the terminal only for DVD's 6 & 7. #8 is a smaller size and deleted from dolphin without incident.

Actual Results:
see above

Expected Results:
If an error message is to be given, maybe include an option for dolphin perform an alternative method of deletion, without sending to trash, or to empty the trash itself.

I failed to reproduce the reported problem using KDE SC 4.8 RC1. I tried to delete a 6GB vdi image, and it was put into trash without problem.

Works for me in KDE Frameworks 5.45.
