Version: 4.6 (using KDE 4.6.1)
OS: Linux

hello,
on opensuse 11.4 there is a big sound problem on opensuse 11.4 kde; no sound in firefox, no sound by aplay (.alert.wav is playing but there is no sound to hear) . Something blocks sound. On configuring audigy 2 I have to configure sound after each boot or login.
kmix does not come up or crashed.

I have 2 DVD writer on this 32 bit pc and KSCD needs two CDs in
each DVD-writer, playing one CD and displaying song information of the other CD.

Sound on opensuse 11.4 kde is a cataclysm.

Cheers,
gre

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
try getting sound

Actual Results:
no sound

Expected Results:
sound in firefox , aplay ,......

OK, opensuse 11.4 system is in rc1 state.

Nevertheless it stays there if sound is not enabled.

You probably need to add your user to the audio group. Logout/login after the change.

For more help about setting up audio on openSUSE, please ask in an openSUSE forum, such as http://forums.opensuse.org

Hi Christoph,

having added audio group the user, with fuser -v :
/dev/snd/controlC0: gre 5358 F.... pulseaudio
/dev/snd/controlC1: gre 5358 F.... pulseaudio
aplay alert.wav
Playing WAVE 'alert.wav' : Unsigned 8 bit, Rate 8000 Hz, Mono
/dev/snd/controlC0: gre 5358 F.... pulseaudio
/dev/snd/controlC1: gre 5358 F.... pulseaudio
/dev/snd/pcmC1D0p: gre 5358 F...m pulseaudio

nothing to hear, same old story.
