Version:           4.6 (using KDE 4.6.0) 
OS:                Linux

All user applications appear to be running at a nice of 19, the parent of all these processes are variants of kdeint4 ((kdeinit4: kdeinit4 , kdeinit4: plasma-desktop, etc ...). This is not constrained to KDE apps but all user apps including Gnome and the opera browser. Tested 2 users, same results. Rebooted, same results

Konsole though is running at nice of 0 and any app launched within it has a nice of 0 also

Expected Results:  
process should be started at nice of 0 which is the openSuse default

Since it doesn't happen here, maybe there is some custom configuration on your system. Can you please check if the problem persists if you use a fresh user account?

does not occur as a new user so I marked as "resolved as invalid"
apologies thought I had tested as a 2nd (not new) user
