If you rebuild anyway, why not using the latest stable version 2.4? This is already solved since quite some time. A recompilation can't be a solution TBH, as the bug is in that version, recompiling doesn't change anything in the source. I also strongly suggest you get a newer KDE, current stable is 4.6 and there have been many bugfixes since version 4.4.5. Amarok depends on Qt 4.6 which is available only since KDE 4.5.x *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 236518 *** Thanks for the prompt reply. I am not using 4.5.x because, under Gentoo, that is not marked 'stable' in Gentoo portage. I will push for Gentoo to mark KDE 4.5 as stable (as opposed to ~x86 in gentoo speak). BTW. Rebuilding does fix the problem, for me. I generally assume it's because I have had some underlying kde libraries re-built but maybe it's some config file which is reset on re-build. |
