Version:           1.0 (using KDE 4.4.4) 
OS:                Linux

I click on a *.jar file, it is opened by ark. I right click and look for a 'Run with,..." option, no,it is not there.I set executable permissions, but still no luck.

As far as I remember,KDE behaves the same with *.sh file also.

If I had clicked the same files in Gnome, it would have given me a nice dialog informing 'this is an execuatble, you want to run it or display contents(or some such phrase'

As long as I have worked in KDE,that is from KDE, 3.x.x, this has always been the case. I know how to make jar file run with java, but why KDE should not behave smarter?

Hello,

Sorry for not caring enough to answer earlier.

I am running Dolphin 22.12.0 now. It nicely 'execute's  *.jar, *.sh, *.exe if executable property set. For *.exe, of course that bit is not needed.

You people have given us a nice OS in KDE, thank you. Please go ahead and close this bug at your end.
