Description Jan Hackel 2011-02-11 09:20:37 UTC
Version: 2.0.89 (using KDE 4.6.0)
OS: Linux

When you delete a message from the message list of an IMAP account (either by keyboard or by menu) no message seems to have focus. Going back with the keyboard will give the first message focus, going back the last. This actually disrupts keyboard navigation.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
- select message a message in the message list of an IMAP account
- activate the 'move to trash' command by hotkey (del) or menu

Actual Results:
No message is selected. Moving back or forth by keyboard will select the first message or the last, respectively.

Expected Results:
The message before or after the trashed message should receive focus, just as with the 'delete' action.

It happens with IMAP accounts not with local folders. The 'permanently delete' action (Shift+Del) shows the correct behaviour.

Confirmed in 2.0.95.

This problem is present in Kontact 4.7. I never had this problem until I upgraded.

I was having exactly this problem with KDE 4.7.1 and then it morphed (I don't think I changed anything) into the next message will get selected for less than a second, the message list will redraw, and then some other message (usually the same one as the last time I deleted a message) is selected. I think this is related to Bug 279094.

This seems to me to be solved with one of the commits shortly before 4.7.2.

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kmail2 (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.12 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
