Description H.H. 2011-02-08 16:55:21 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.0)
OS: Linux

I have configured folderview to leave icons "unsorted". Despite that, when creating a new file on my desktop, the icons appears not at the place I clicked, but somewhere else (where the icons appear, when automatically sorted).

I am really annoyed of folderview, not being able to completly disable every sort of sorting and automatic placing. somehow, at least after a few days, my icons are sorted completly without any interaction from me.

Reproducible: Always

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.34-12-desktop
Compiler: gcc

Can't seem to get items to sort themselves for no reason, but folderview is still not creating new icons under the mouse.

Changing this item to wishlist though.

Semi-reproduced in OpenSuse 12.1, KDE 4.7.2

Thats bug is still existant in the latest version of Plasma:

Kernel: 4.4.4-1-MANJARO x86_64 (64 bit) Desktop: KDE Plasma 5.5.5
Distro: ManjaroLinux 15.12 Capella) with the Desktop in Folder View.

rmc: new file - name it.. and it will be placed in the left lower side of the desktop and not on the mouse position.

reproducable: always !

Hello!

This feature request was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this feature request is already implemented in Plasma 5, or is no longer applicable.

Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this feature request. If the requested feature is still desired but not implemented in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting

If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging

Thanks for your understanding!

Nate Graham
