Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.0)
OS: Linux

I just upgraded to KDE 4.6.0 using the one-click install for openSuSE 11.3 . Now, when I reboot, it doesn't load. X starts, apparently (there are borderless windows), but there's an error message "Could not start ksmserver. Check your installation."

When I try to run ksmserver from a command line, I get:

unnamed app(6429): Cannot connect to the X server
ksmserver: cannot connect to X server

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Reboot.

Actual Results:
The machine boots and (I think) logs me in, and X starts, but the window manager doesn't. The error message "Could not start ksmserver. Check your installation." appears in a small text window. I can't use my computer now except as a console.

Also, I can't report the bug using the automatic crash tool, since when I try to login to bugs.kde.org I get told "failed to communicate with kded".

Expected Results:
Should boot normally.

Please ask on an openSUSE forum for help with this problem. It looks like you did not correctly install/update packages.
