It would be great if my google contact groups would show up as categories in kaddressbook.

Reproducible: Didn't try

this would be great if kadressbook would sync with akonadi
"akonadi_gcal_resource" the group from google-contact.

I have tried to sync my "google-contacts with my own google-group". 
The contact is "only" saves in kadressbook in "own fields" -->
"Google-groupMembership_0" / "Google-groupMembership_1"
"Google-groupMembership_nr" ....

tested with KDE 4.8.0

But no kadressbook-group is applied to the contact !?

Somewhat fixed as google groups now appear as subfolders in kaddressbook.
