Version:           1.13.5 (using KDE 4.5.1) 
OS:                Linux

After I changed my settings to prefer plain text to HTML for multipart messages (Security->Reading), I lost the toggle bar that used to be shown along the left edge of the message that allowed toggling between the two formats. The toggle is only shown if the preferred format is HTML. (Except that it doesn't do anything any more, which is filed as bug  264577.)

Changing the summary now the toggle bar is permanently gone, not just when plain text is the preferred format. I switched the settings back to prefer HTML to plain text, and it just does not appear any more.

It appears that this was caused by bug  264577: changing the preferred format also quietly modified several other settings, among which was to disable the display of HTMl status bar.
