When I open it, it's half-sized, doesn't fit item titles, and when I try to hove items, the hover slider goes away somewhere.

When you say half-sized - is it only the width or the height as well?

(if it is the width, there's not much I can do about that at the moment - will probably have to wait for libplasma2)

Is this still the case? I assume you are talking about a shelf in the panel. That one seems to be quite resizable for me and working well (KDE 4.7.3)
