- What I was doing when the application crashed:
KDE login was updated to 4.6 with the new login screen and background. the splash from kdm to the desktop was still the existing (custom) selection of mine. upon login KDE crashed

- Custom settings of the application:
I have CWP (Customizable Weather Plasmoid) [added repo of] and Smooth Tasks Plasmoid [self compiled] installed.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

## removed smooth tasks plasmoid by entering into the build directory and
$ sudo make uninstall

## was able to start plasma-desktop without crash

## need to fix the panel of course

Right, according to the backtrace, SmoothTasks is responsible for the crash.
