Description Kai Uwe Broulik 2011-01-20 14:09:26 UTC
Version: SVN (using KDE 4.5.95)
OS: Linux

Since I find the bluedevil UI too complicated and badly designed, I preferr using the bluetooth kio slave. My smartphone pops up, I click on it and then there is a folder “Browse files” which lists the files on the phone and “Send Files” which triggers the BlueDevil file transfer wizard. Since this “folder” is already related to the smartphone I want to send files to there is no need for a wizard, you don‘t need to select a phone or find one as this has been done earlier.
It should be possible just to drag a file/multiple files onto this Send File thing and have them sent.

Reproducible: Always

Well, maybe instead of just complaining you can do some positive criticism, present mockups, changes etc and with that help the project.
Just as an example, take a look at bug: 254508

Send as in the wizard or like in Browse Files? because if you want the last you can already create a place when browsing the device and use it as a normal folder.

The url should be something like: obexftp://CA:FE:CA:FE:CA:FE/

I know, that obexftp-browsing is pretty cool but I see no point in having that wizard there as well. I just want to drag a file onto "Send Files" and thats it. The only reason for this wizard rhere seems to annoy you (since you have to select the file manually as it doesn't handle drag'n'drop) and to "connect" with the phone which a kio could also do because the mobile itself has already been selected. No need for wizards that interrupt your workflow :)

Well, I just wanted to notice that is kinda rude say "Since I think that your work sucks because it is badly designed, please implement this for me".

As I said, if you want something to be changed, just make a proposal and we'll do it.

About the feature you are proposing I find it interesting and I will try to implement it as soon as I can.

Hello

It would be also nice to initiate transfer by dragging files into bluedevil tray icon (select files in dolphin/krusader/firefox/whatever -> drag to tray -> get device scan window -> select device -> send).
I hope this proposal is very related to this bug, but I can post a new wish if necessary.

Thanks

Set as confirmed since it is an interesting feature. Let's see if it can be easily implemented.
