Description gbm 2011-01-20 06:23:05 UTC
Application: dolphin (1.5)
KDE Platform Version: 4.5.5 (KDE 4.5.5)
Qt Version: 4.6.3
Operating System: Linux 2.6.34.7-66.fc13.x86_64 x86_64
Distribution (Platform): Fedora RPMs

-- Information about the crash:
dolphin crashes after opening video files within dolphin:
opened video files using dolphin (and sometimes .txt files)
dolphin opens accordingly, and I can browse and scroll within dolphin through the folders but then dolphin crashes after about 2 minutes
this does not happen all the time, maybe 3 of 10 times

dolphin crashes after "open folder" within transmission:
transmission has the option to view a (complete) download "open folder"
the set folder will open accordingly, thus dolphin will crash as described above after again about 2 minutes, mostly as i am viewing the content in dolphin or using totem after i find the downloads from transmission i have searched for and open them, bringing totem in the foreground and dolphin in the backround
this does not happen all the time, maybe 3 of 10 times

steps taken:
i restarted the application using the kde crash handler option, dolphin will open accordingly and i can browse and open content and i restarted the dolphin application manualy, and dolphin will open as well and respond further accordingly too - i am not sure if the application crashes again these restarts
i had the "split view mode" enabled, i have changed this now to the simplified view and am using dolphin further

thank you!

The crash can be reproduced some of the time.

Thanks for the bug report! This is an issue in the D-Bus library which
has been reported already. It is fixed in D-Bus 1.3.1 and later:

http://bugreports.qt.nokia.com/browse/QTBUG-7475
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17754

If you cannot update to D-Bus 1.3.1 or later, you can disable tool tips and the
Information Panel as a workaround.

Hello Mr. Andres,

Thanks for the reply and the tips given. I have checked and cannot find the
suggested Dbus version 1.3.1. I have attached "installed packages.catalog.txt"
if this is perhaps any helpful. I also must say, I had test updates enabled in
KPackageKit too. I have removed this option and I update further.

Furthermore, I have disabled Nepomuk long ago, since I couldnt use it
accordingly, or it didnt seem to work for me. The "Show Tooltips" in the
Dolphin application have always been disabled.

Can I provide any further information? I cannot reproduce the crashes myself
in Dolphin or find out what is causing this myself.

Thanks again,
Faramarz
