Description Janet 2011-01-19 04:44:29 UTC
Created attachment 56181 [details]
screenshot of context pane with swallowed recent track names

Version: 2.4.0 (using KDE 4.5.5)
OS: Linux

When the context pane gets less than 440 pixel wide artist & track name of the last played songs in the current song widget get completely truncated so you cannot tell which song it is. That's when the time of the last access is e.g. within the last minute. At least in the german translation that text is so long that it swallows the whole track and artist name. In that case there also is no tooltip because the tooltip to show the whole name only appears when you hover over the track name which is not visible. And the horizontal scrollbar only appears at 400 pixel pane width but is useless because it doesn't reveal more information about the track, only the time.

Therefore I propose to not truncate artist and track name but the text for the last access because it's the less relevant information of both because it's useless on its own. Or maybe the information could be displayed (optionally?) in two rows: first row artist and track, second row the last access date. You already have a scrollbar there so that doesn't matter...

The huge Amarok icon at the left side of the list looks very nice and many thanks for the information about the collection below.

Reproducible: Always

Expected Results:
Artist and track name always should be identifiable.

The related context view applets look pretty different since 3.0, so this one's not relevant anymore (and the exact function shown isn't there anymore, maybe something similar will be implemented some day). Closing.
