In the dolphin places panel, there is an option to "release" a mounted CD or DVD.  This unmounts the disc without ejecting it from the disc drive.  The device notifier applet, however, has no such option.  You can only eject the disc.  It would be nice if this option were implemented in the device notifier so I don't have to open dolphin to release discs.

Not sure this makes sense. Why would you want to release a disc without ejecting it? Also, increasing numbers of modern PCs don't even have a disc drive, so any possible use case for this will only shrink over time.
