Sentry Crash Report:

Description Christopher Yeleighton 2011-01-14 14:30:08 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.4.4)
OS: Linux

KsCD is hardwired to /dev/cdrom; it cannot play /dev/scd1 unless you relink /dev/cdrom to /dev/scd1, which is troublesome and requires administrator privileges.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
  0. Make sure /dev/scd0 is empty.
  1. Insert an audio CD into /dev/scd1.
  2. Tell KsCD to play.

Actual Results:
  2. Nothing to play.

Expected Results:
  2. KsCD should play /dev/scd1.

Note: Although KsCD is unable to play /dev/scd1, it does eject it when asked for it, paying no attention to /dev/cdrom which is empty.

Workaround: { cdda-player; }. Requires a terminal window but works like a charm.

KSCD was quietly ejected about two years ago since it never was ported to KDE Frameworks or Qt5. I'm closing this as "sorry, this is never going to be fixed in a newer product."
