Description Frank Steinmetzger 2011-01-07 04:32:13 UTC
Version: 2.3 (using KDE 4.5.90)
OS: Linux

I was playing around with Tellico and downloaded details for some movies from IMDB, when my connection went down. It tends to do this a lot (VPN over a long, fragile WiFi link). When it went down, Tellico froze for several minutes without the possibility to do anything. At first I though "great, all for nothing" because I didn’t save yet. But then I though that at some point the download _must_ timeout eventually, and so it did.

It would be good if the timeout were lessened to something more practical, say, 30 seconds. Maybe you could even consider doing the download in the background with a progress indicator. The Download then is either cancelled or another parallel download is started when another entry is selected in the search result list.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Tellico doesn't adjust any of the default timeout settings. I believe the KDE-wide default is indeed 30 seconds. Did it take longer for you?

Doing the download in the background, maybe in another thread, has been on my to-do list for a while. Just not yet. :)
