Bug 262165

Summary: Error message when saving image in exposure blending dialogue
Product: [Applications] digikam Reporter: Johannes Schwall <johannes.schwall>
Component: Plugin-Generic-ExpoBlendingAssignee: Digikam Developers <digikam-bugs-null>
Status: RESOLVED FIXED
Severity: normal CC: arneklindt, baptiste_moyse_25, caulier.gilles
Priority: NOR
Version: unspecified
Target Milestone: ---
Platform: Ubuntu
OS: Linux
Latest Commit: Version Fixed In: 5.1.0
Sentry Crash Report:
Attachments: digikam output with error in exposure blending tool

Description Johannes Schwall 2011-01-05 10:37:40 UTC
Version: 1.7.0 (using KDE 4.5.4)
OS: Linux

When I save an image created with the exposure blending tool, an error is displayed. It says that the image could not be saved.

1) This is not correct as the image is saved correctly.
2) It seems to be a problem with saving some intermediate version of the image.
3) The error appears once when saving the second HDR image in a digikam session, twice on saving the third image, three times for the fourth ...

Each time it is sufficient to just ignore the error, everything seems to have worked correctly.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Select images for exposure blending; create a preview, then save the image. Close the exposure blending tool, select three different images and do it again. This time, the error appears.

Actual Results:
An error message appears, stating that the image could not be saved. Actually, it has been saved.

Expected Results:
It should have been saved without stating otherwise.

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.35-24-generic
Compiler: cc

Can you run digiKam from a console and copy and paste all trace generated by Exposure Blending tool ?

digikam output with error in exposure blending tool

Please find attached all the output I was able to generate. Unfortunately, I don't know how to differentiate between output from digikam and the exposure blending tool; anyway, the saving of the first image happend around line 23.800; Then there's something around 30.480, then 31.360, then 64.200.

Interestingly, the output of X errors stopped after having saved the first HDR image (and closed the exposure blending tool) whereas it didn't stop after having saved the second image. After dismissing the error message I checked the folder and found both a temp file (.kipi...) as well as the expected output file. I then closed the exposure blending tool and the temp file disappeared, but the X errors kept on coming. They only stopped after closing digikam completely.

I hope this helps ...

Best regards,

Johannes

Sound like a problem with your X11 server as well, nothing more.

Johannes,

This file still valid using kipi-plugins 2.4 ?

Comment 8 Johannes Schwall 2012-08-13 23:06:03 UTC
I just stumbled upon this one. Unfortunately, it's still valid for me. In fact, now it's a little worse with the following versions:

Qt: 4.8.1
KDE: 4.8.4 (4.8.4)
digiKam: 2.8.0

The thing is: When I now select images for alignment and exposure blending, after the second time, the "preparation dialog" (I've got no better name for it at the moment – it's the one for the alignment before getting to the actual exposure dialog) opens twice ...

Hello,

same problem for me, well described on top of that page.

Using:
Xubuntu 12.04 (64 bits)
Kipi-plugins 4.2.5
Digikam 4.2.5
Computer: Compaq presario CQ61-410SF laptop
Comment 10 Arne 2012-10-17 06:27:11 UTC
Same on a freshly updated Fedora 17/KDE system (details to be filled in later)

Each new invocation of the ExpoBlending plugin starts one more dialog. So the first use opens one dialog, the second two, and so on. Have to close the additional dialogs before saving doesn't create an error message. (Though saving works even if the error message is present) Annoying.

Problem still reproducible using last kipi-plugins 4.10.0 ?

New Kipiplugins 4.11.0 is available :

https://www.digikam.org/node/740

Can you reproduce the problem with this release ?

Comment 13 caulier.gilles 2016-07-07 13:24:23 UTC
This problem is not reproducible with last 5.0.0
I close this file now. Re-open it if necessary.
